Should I DIY My Corporate Office Move?

Moving to a new corporate space is a good thing--it means your company is successful and growing. It's also a headache, since you've got to pack everything up and move it to the new space. In real terms this means some downtime for the move prep, transportation, and setting everything back up in the new space. It also means more expense at a time when you're already laying out significant money for an office uplift, so you might be tempted to save a little cash by packing and moving yourself.
Your Investment Is Worth Professional Packing
Don't try to DIY this one. Businesses today run on technology, and the components of that tech have a sensitivity that belies their workhorse capabilities. The only possible way you could pack up all your hardware is if you saved all the original packaging from all your purchases. AND if you know how to repack in reverse. Since you didn't keep all the boxes and insulation materials, you’ll need more of the same to pack and protect all your technology. They also know how to fabricate boxes, crates, and padding to move the big stuff, like giant copy machines, refrigerators, and file cabinets and load them onto the trucks safely.
Speaking of trucks. There is an art and a science to knowing not only how many you need, but what kind. If you're moving heavy equipment, you might need a truck with a lift gate and a crew who knows how to lift and load without injuring themselves. Then there's the actual loading--packing the cargo space so that nothing shifts, falls, or breaks during transport is a feat of engineering best not left to amateurs.
Limit Your Downtime
There will be unavoidable downtime. You can ameliorate some of that by moving over the weekend, but plan to be offline for at least a couple of days. An office moving company can limit your downtime further since you won't be taking staff away from their everyday tasks or risking injury.
